Asia Travel: Tag Team the World!

Asia is one of the most popular destinations for tourists, and for good reason.  It offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, most of the largest malls on the planet, and an interesting mix of ancient culture and modern technology.  Now, there are several countries and places within those nations that are worth discussing, however the focus of this article will be the country of Thailand.  We will cover other countries and regions in future articles.

Interestingly, very few people know that Thailand is the only nation in all of Southeast Asia that has never been under the control of a European nation.  One of the things visitors marvel at in Thailand is that it is almost as if there are parallel societies co-existing.  On the one hand you have the ancient Buddhist lifestyle, and on the other you have all the technology of modern city life such as nightclubs, malls, bars and gorgeous beach retreats.

Chiang Mai in the north is one of the more popular destinations there.  That is where the King’s Summer Palace is located.  It is also home to breathtaking Buddhist temples adorned with shimmering gold.  If you should happen to go there then you definitely do not want to miss visiting the legendary Wat Chiang Mun temple inside the city’s old walls.

In the south of the country two of the more popular spots are the cities of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai.  These cities are what are known as Heritage Sites because of their being home to hundreds of ancient yet well-maintained Buddhist temples.

And of course no description of Thailand is complete without mentioning its capital, the bustling city of Bangkok.  It is home to some of the greatest shopping centers in Asia, is ultra-modern with museums and boasts a healthy ultra-chic nightlife.

Traveling to Thailand is also quite affordable.  With proper planning you can enjoy a great vacation with full accommodations without breaking the bank.  And another plus of Thailand is that the weather is almost always sunny with reasonable temperatures in the 70’s to low 80’s at most.

So there you have it.  We could go on and on about the benefits of choosing Thailand as a vacation destination, but that would take up more space than we can reasonably cover here.  However, there are great guides available both online and at your brick-and-mortar travel agencies.  But you can pretty much be sure of one thing.  Once you have traveled to Thailand there is a pretty good chance you will become a repeat visitor.
